Editorial Policy

GeekyExpert is committed to producing market intelligence that is accurate, independent, and transparent. Every report, ranking, and recommendation published on this site is governed by the standards outlined below. Our readers deserve research they can trust, and these policies exist to protect that trust.

How Reports Are Assigned

Research topics are selected based on market demand, category relevance, and reader needs. Our editorial team evaluates search trends, industry developments, and gaps in existing coverage to determine which categories warrant new or updated reports.

The editorial team decides coverage independently. No vendor, advertiser, or commercial partner has influence over which topics we research or when reports are published. Coverage decisions are made solely on the basis of reader value and market significance.

How Vendors Are Evaluated

All vendors within a given category are evaluated against the same standardized criteria. We do not give preferential treatment to any vendor based on commercial relationships, advertising spend, or partnership status.

Our evaluation framework covers product capabilities, pricing transparency, user experience, customer support quality, integration ecosystem, and independent user feedback. The specific criteria and scoring methodology for each category are documented in our Research Methodology page.

Equal Access: Every vendor in a category has the same opportunity to be evaluated. We do not charge vendors for inclusion, nor do we accept payment in exchange for higher rankings or more favorable assessments.

How Recommendations Are Reviewed

Every report passes through a multi-stage editorial review process before publication. This process is designed to eliminate bias, catch factual errors, and ensure that recommendations are defensible and well-supported by evidence.

Our Review Process

  1. Independent Research: The research desk conducts primary analysis using standardized evaluation criteria, product testing, and verified data sources.
  2. Fact-Checking: All claims, statistics, pricing data, and feature descriptions are verified against primary sources before inclusion.
  3. Peer Review: A second editor reviews the report for accuracy, completeness, logical consistency, and adherence to editorial standards.
  4. Final Approval: The report is approved for publication only after all review stages are completed and any identified issues are resolved.

How Corrections Are Handled

We take factual accuracy seriously. If a reader, vendor, or internal reviewer identifies an error in any published report, we follow a structured correction process to address it promptly and transparently.

All correction requests are reviewed within 5 business days of submission. When a correction is warranted, the update is published with a clear disclosure noting what was changed and when. We do not silently alter published content.

To submit a correction request or view our full corrections log, visit our Corrections page.

Update Cadence

Market conditions change, and our research must reflect current reality. Every published report follows a minimum quarterly refresh cycle to ensure data, pricing, and vendor assessments remain accurate.

Scheduled Reviews

All reports are reviewed and refreshed on a quarterly basis at minimum. This includes re-verifying pricing, updating feature sets, and incorporating new user feedback data.

Breaking Changes

Material events -- including acquisitions, major pricing changes, significant product updates, and security incidents -- trigger an expedited update published within 48 hours of confirmation.

Sponsored Content Policy

GeekyExpert may publish sponsored content from time to time. When we do, it is always clearly labeled and visually distinct from our independent editorial research. Sponsored content is marked with a visible disclosure at the top of the page so readers can immediately identify it.

Sponsored content does not influence our rankings, evaluations, or editorial conclusions in any way. Sponsors do not receive editorial input, advance review of reports, or the ability to modify findings. The existence of a sponsorship relationship with a vendor has no bearing on that vendor's position in our independent research.

Our Commitment: Readers will always be able to distinguish between independent editorial content and commercially supported content. We will never disguise advertising as editorial research.

Separation of Editorial and Commercial

GeekyExpert maintains a strict separation between editorial decisions and commercial relationships. This is the foundational principle that enables us to produce research our readers can rely on.

Our revenue team operates independently from the editorial team. Commercial staff have no input on rankings, vendor inclusion or exclusion, editorial conclusions, or the timing of report publication. Editorial staff are not informed of, and are not incentivized by, the commercial status of any vendor they evaluate.

What This Means in Practice

  • Advertising partners cannot influence report outcomes or rankings.
  • Vendor inclusion in reports is determined solely by editorial criteria.
  • No vendor can pay to be added to, removed from, or repositioned within a report.
  • Editorial staff do not participate in sales conversations or partnership negotiations.
  • Revenue-related feedback about editorial content is reviewed by the editorial lead and acted on only if it has independent merit.
